Dan Bankhurst CD Release Party eachwood native and acoustic guitarist Dan Bankhurst will be releasing his second CD, titled Tradition Pickin’, at a CD release party at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. The event takes place Fri., Aug. 28 at 8:30 pm. Bankhurst plays an intricate style of instrumental guitar that was pioneered by the great Chet Atkins, and more recently by contemporary guitarist Tommy Emmannuel. Tradition Pickin' is Bankhurst's tribute to his favorite traditional thumbpicking guitarists including Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed. Since recording his first CD, At First Sight, in 2013, Bankhurst has been recognized at the national level and won the International Home of the Legends thumbpicking competition. For the past two years, Bankhurst has been a performer at the prestigious Chet Atkins Convention in Nashville where many of the world’s top guitarists gather annually; and he recently returned from Nashville where he played at an event featuring some of Nashville’s top session guitarists, including country music star Vince Gill.
