he Gathering Place is a caring community that supports, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. The programs and services offered provide education and information, support, and help manage the stress of a cancer diagnosis. The Gathering Place has two locations in Beachwood and a location in Westlake. Below is a listing of upcoming programs at The Gathering Place located at 23300 Commerce Park in Beachwood. In collaboration with FORCE. Party in the Garden: Good Food & Conversation Thurs., Aug. 6, 6:30 - 8:00 pm For Young Adults Surviving Cancer (ages 18-40) We look forward to seeing you. No registration required. Family Pizza Night: For Families Coping with a Cancer Diagnosis Mon., July 31, 6:30 - 8:00 pm Bring the family and make your own fresh hot pizza pie in a stone oven. Learn about fun and healthy toppings and how to make your own sauce. Photography for Healing (While On the Cancer Journey) Wed., Sept. 2, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Photography is a way to come into the present, accessing special moments of beauty, wisdom and peace. We will use breathwork, guided visualization and music. No photography experience necessary. Lunch provided. If Cancer is a Gift, Where is the Return Counter? Thurs., Sept. 10, 7:30 - 8:30 pm Mindy Greenstein, PhD explores the balancing act of coping with cancer based on her personal and professional experience. Dr. Greenstein is a cancer psychologist and consultant to the psychiatry department at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, as well as a two-time breast cancer survivor. The Gathering Place will hold its Home Furnishings Sale on Saturday, August 8, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and Sunday, August 9, 10 am – 1 pm, at 4911 Commerce Parkway in Warrensville Heights. Proceeds help The Gathering Place support, educate and empower those touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge.
