Chemo-Care Bags Benefit
Those at
The Gathering Place
On Thursday, April 7, Amy Babbush, Jodie
Bromberg, Heidi Chylla, Julie Frayman, Jamie Light,
Cyndi Port and Kelly Rubanenko hosted a ladies'
night at the Melting Pot at Legacy Village. Bromberg
and her husband, Seth, own the Melting Pot and
for the past four years have been hosting an annual
ladies' night as a give-back marketing tool.
This year, they put a twist on the event. Bromberg
and the above-mentioned hostesses chose to
honor and remember their dear friend, Darcy
Alter. Babbush, who sells KEEP Collective jewelry,
participated by providing opportunities for guests
to design their own keepsake pieces and sponsor
chemo-care pouches, with 100% of the evening's
proceeds benefitting The Gathering Place.
More than 100 people enjoyed
complimentary cheese and chocolate fondue,
and drinks were served at discounted prices.
Attendees purchased jewelry that told their
stories by personalizing items with "keys,"
or charms, that included inspirational words,
stones and designs. Additionally, more than
100 chemo-care bags were sponsored, to be
donated to The Gathering Place and distributed
to those undergoing treatment.
"KEEP released these adorable pouches,
providing an opportunity to share and give back
in a big way," Babbush told us. "When Darcy
was going through treatment, she received
thoughtful and supportive gifts, and when these
pouches became available, I recognized an
opportunity to provide a little comfort to others
who are undergoing treatment."
"Our original goal was to have 50 pouches
sponsored," Babbush added. "We exceeded that
goal and hit 75, then 100. I would love to keep
the program going as long as there's an interest
and we have continued sponsors."
Chemo-care bags include a coupon for a
haircut and style once treatment has been
completed, a week-long guest pass to the JCC,
tic-tacs, chapstick, lip balm, sunscreen, hand
cream, playing cards, coloring books, colored
pencils, lollipops, Kleenex, socks, happy stickers
and an inspirational key that say believe, faith,
inspire, love, or all things are possible. Additional
keys included healing stones and pavé hearts.
A coloring card is added to each pouch, with a
personalized
message from the
donor.
Thanks go to Danny's Hair Salon,
the Mandel Jewish Community Center, BJ's
Wholesale Club, Meredith Goldstein with Beauty
County, Office Depot and Todd Stern with X-S
Merchandise, Inc. for their donations, making this
project a success.
With continued interest and support, the group's
hostesses will create additional chemo-care
pouches to comfort women undergoing treatment.
Please consider sponsoring a pouch to honor Darcy
or a loved one, or to celebrate a milestone occasion.

In addition to the pouches, ladies' night
proceeds (which exceeded $2,000) were
donated to The Gathering Place to help fund
programs and services to those who have been
touched by cancer.
