CINEMA AT THE SQUARE Returns to Playhouse Square
Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace will return to its early days as Downtown Cleveland’s flagship movie theater during Cinema at the Square, presented by Medical Mutual, August 6-23, for three weeks of classic films, starring fifteen of Hollywood’s most beloved titles. Now in its eighteenth year, Cinema at the Square takes Clevelanders back in time with the nostalgic movie-going experience of the 1950’s, featuring pre-show cartoons, movie theater concessions and popular music on its restored 1927 Kimball organ. Each film is shown on a massive 20’ high x 47’ wide screen, the largest non-IMAX screen in Ohio, using an original 35mm reel-to-reel projection system that is operated by a skilled projectionist to complete the throwback experience. Even the ticket prices are retro at just $5 per person! The series celebrates classic films 25 years and older, featuring the silver screen’s elite across multiple eras and generations of movie-lovers. With everything from comedy and drama to action and family films, this year’s lineup boasts a total of fifteen hit titles as listed below. General adult admission is $5 per film. Students with valid ID, seniors and children under 12 years old are admitted for $4 per ticket. Flix Tix Passes, good for six films of your choice, are available for only $15 (50% off regular price). Tickets are available at the Playhouse Square Ticket Office, by phone at 216.241.6000 and online at playhousesquare. org/cinema. Groups of 10 or more please call 216.640.8600 for a group discount.
